Bait Particle Baits

Most anglers have used and caught fish using particle baits. The range of particle baits is huge from small seeds like hemp to larger particles such as maples.

One of the reasons particles are so successful as fishing baits is because they are completely natural products. Modern fishing techniques have lead to very complicated baits such as boilies. However in hard fished waters using a simple natural particle bait can prove devastating when more complex baits fail. Similarly in very lightly fished waters particles are often extremely effective as they match the natural feed of fish.

Most particles need some sort of preparation before they can be used. This is an ideal opportunity to introduce additives to flavour and spice up the particle. The preparation can be a simple soaking to a prolonged soak and then period of fermentation. At each stage it is easy to use your imagination to develop you own special technique to give your bait an edge.

French Maize
Re-cleaned whole French maize.  A bright yellow particle that is ideal for use on the hook or as tempting feed samples.
Groats
Small high energy particles with a reasonably high oil content.  These are vastly underrated as fishing bait and are ideal to keep fish occupied in your swim as they search the small grains out.
Maple Peas
Brown pea-sized bait can be used on the hook or in groundbait form.  Form a sticky mush if left to ferment for a couple of days when prepared.  Fish love them.
Best Barley
If you are after inexpensive bait then Barley is ideal.  A high-energy particle that lends itself well to pre-baiting campaigns.  A very natural food for fish, barley is a great confidence bait.
