PREPARATION
Soak in an equal amount of water for 12 hours then boil for 30 minutes. Place in a sealed bucket and ferment in a warm place for two to three days. The water will become white and syrupy and the maples will be at their best. To boost this attraction add 100g of sugar per kilo of maples after boiling.
SUGGESTED USE
One of the best fishing baits for carp, bream and tench, maples can be used as a carpet feed with hemp, groats and dari. They can also be used as a hookbait, especially when mounted on a hair. Try popping your hookbait up off the bottom with a small cork ball; the fish won't tell the difference.
TOP TIP
For a high attraction fishing bait try adding a small amount of molasses, Betaine or CSL to your maples during fermentation.
