PREPARATION
Place in a bucket and pour an equal amount of boiling water over the groats and leave for 12 hours. Check occasionally and add more boiling water if the groats have soaked up all the water.
SUGGESTED USE
Groats are a very economical, highly visual and effective carpet feed fishing bait, ideal for holding most fish in your swim. The relatively cheap price makes long-term baiting campaigns more affordable, particularly if used to bulk out pigeon mix or partiblend. Mix with hemp for an excellent summer or winter-feed. Groats can easily be coloured during the soaking process, and take flavours well.
TOP TIP
Add up to 100g of calf milk powder and two capfuls of molasses to a pint of warm water and soak up to 3kg of groats in this for 2 hours before adding the boiling water. The fish will go crazy for it.
